What's a 123GT worth? 120-130

I wouldn't doubt that he's spent that much and more in the restoration. But I don't think the end result is worth that much.

    What's a 123GT worth? 120-130

Well this one is not worth 12,000, and that's USD...!!! At the CVC meet last year there was a 1967 123 GT that was in excellent condition. It had been appraised at 11,500, and that was CDN. It was a low mile, two owner car, and it was RED.......really RED.....drooooollll.......Anyway, this guy is 11 bricks shy of a dozen.

One of the most desireable parts on a 123GT is the fender mirrors, but they seem not to be present on this one but instead replaced by a later model year door mirror (but only on the driver's side). Major drawback. The second most desireable part on a 123GT these days are the wheel beauty rings, and it is not obvious if they are present on this unit (if they are, they need a face lift). There are also fact flaws in the ad. Serious, and not good for his reputation.

It will be interesting to see if he will get $12.000 for it, but to answer the original question I think that a little less than half that price is what you would expect to find a 1967-1968 123GT in good condition for.

Dudes out to lunch. The only way I'ld pay that kind of $ would be for a mint UNRESTORED GT. Last year when he was trying to sell it he went on about how the repair panels, rockers etc were glued on, using some kind of airplane technology, a big improvement supposedly. Anyway every few months he posts again, different stories, same car, from looking at the pictures, it doesn't even seem that the chrome was redone. Caveat emptor, one mans's junk.

I thought that was the same car, but his little website didn't rattle on about the glue. Perhaps he got some negative feedback about that.

A time warp 120 mile 123GT that sat in a warehouse the entire time might be worth that, but it would be a sort of white elephant to buy as you really couldn't drive it around.

Old Volvos are worth whatever someone is willing to pay, obviously. I doubt that the GT is worth much more than any other Amazon. If it's in really nice shape cosmetically and mechanically, he might get $8K for it.

Then again, who knows what can happen on eBay?

With a starting bid of $11,999 and a higher unknown reserve I would doubt he'll get a single bid.

Generally what I see on eBay is worthless stuff selling for too much money, and really nice stuff selling for too little.

I think that will be my new ebay slogan. For a while now it's been "Helping people clean out their basements like never before." Amazing what a few good photos does to increase what people will bid.

I bet the reserve is $12K, as I think that's what used to be on their web page.

He's been trying to sell that car for a year at least. It keeps popping up all over the 'net. I've got well over that amount into a 122S restoration, but that's because I want to keep the car. There's no way to restore old Volvos, do a proper job of it, and sell them for a profit, as this person is finding out.

And knowing which is which is the whole trick, isn't it?
