The steering wheel on my 1993 945T shakes intermitantly from a stop till about 50 mph. Not all the time. I can't seem to notice what happens to make it start or stop. It still shakes while applying the brakes. It's a pretty good shake, moving the steering wheel over an inch. I replaced the bushings up front with eurethane (SP?), 2 years ago. The car has 190k on her now. Anyideas? I hope it is the tires (spent Gislaved's) as I did now notice it with my wide summer Yok's.

    Don't rule out other areas of wear in a car with that much mileage. motor mounts and tranny mount should be checked.

    I had a similar problem. How old are the Shocks. I didn't think this was the problem, but I had checked everything else. I replaced mine and the problem went away. Of course it could be a simple as wheel balance.

    I agree, most probable is tire damage (tread separation for instance), then wheel balance (a weight came off?), before other things like worn steering rack. Change to your other tires and see if the problem disappears? -- Larry C

    Try checking for the brake lines, both of them. They are made of rubber and wire.After a couple of years they just melt away and clog the flow of fluids to the brakes hence shaking.

    I have had bad alignment problems with gislaveds. And flat-spotting.

    If they're spent, I'd be very suspicious.
