need parts!! 200 1981

I seem to have gotten into a small bind with retrofitting cruise onto the '81. The throttle pulley, cable and brackets appear to be from a turbo, but I need ones for a normal k-jet. Anyone out there who can help with this??

Thanks,
Jeff

I have an engine sitting out in my garage out of an 85 245 w/cruise, would maybe something off it work?

      Justin,

My guess is probably not. From other information received on the board, the throttle pulley is different for b21f, b21ft, and b23 engines. I believe that k-jets were extinct before '85. Thanks for the offer though. I will post back when I find out more information.

      Thanks,
      Jeff

        Jeff,

OK, I don't even know exactly what this engine is! I believe that all turbos were B21 style but this 1985 engine is EFI, maybe it's a B23? I snagged it out of the doner I got my M46 from and bro-in-law said grab anything you want cause the rest is going to the boneyard! I wish he had had a title as the body and glass was in great shape. :-(

        Good luck,

        Justin

          Justin,

I appreciate your assistance. I will hopefully be borrowing a digital camera from a friend and should be able to post some pics. Once that is done, perhaps it will be more clear to fellow brickers what is needed.

          Thanks,
          Jeff

    got parts, maybe!! 200 1981

I have a 1979 245DL I am preparing to get out of the driveway in one or more pieces. It has the B21F engine, and I think it has cruise - have to go look.

If so, we can work on things.

    Regards,

    Bob

      Bob,

I will be waiting to hear the status. Is the '79 non-recoverable?

      Thanks,
      Jeff

        got parts, yes!! 200 1981

        Jeff -

The direct email answer to you was before I found this thread again, and I had forgotten that you wanted the cruise for a 1979. Chances are that the stuff I have for the 1983 245GL won't work right.

The 1979 has cruise. It is a B21F engine, the one with the big flat-topped intake manifold. (Always wanted to cook a hamburger on that!) The car is a manual with o/d. It has some good parts on it, but it is not - in my opinion - recoverable.

Are there other items you would like?

        Regards,

        Bob

There's always potential! Has the interior survived in good shape? I have been looking forever for a tan dash, as ours is severely cracked from too many years sitting in southern sun, along with faded door panels. At some point in the future (way down the road for now), I think it might make sense to swap out the BW55 tranny for an OD unit - what's your opinion? As far as the cruise goes, I think the key pieces will be the double throttle pulley and the cable and brackets from the servo to the pulley. I will send some pics once I get them shot with a digital camera.

          Thanks,
          Jeff

            got parts, yes! recoverability.......mebbe..... 200 1979

Well, here's the skinny. Overheated somewhat. Drove OK, no oil in water, temp was one redwidth below red. Did that several years. Then shifter gave trouble going onto reverse, now it won't go atall. Fuel guage lies. Tachometer worked OK.

Stereo iffy. Blower motor doesn't blow. Rust along lower edge of left cargo window, behind LR and RR wheels and at lower end of LH A pillar. Trim panel show water damage on one or two doors from shrunken scraper moldings. Seats mediocre to awful. Good ones swapped into other Volvos. Carpet is brown and OK.

Cargo space full of stuff in "Southern Storage". Trailer hitch for another Volvo, big box with Business phone system in it, other misc. junk. All glass OK. Cargo door struts & hinges OK. Car has trailer hitch installed. Wired so the BFWS light doesn't come on. Wheels & tires: summer good summer not.

Has four speed with switched O.D. trans. Clutch OK. OD said 179000 for a couple years before I shut it down. Color: chocolate brown paint and carpet, black interior plastic & dash, tan seats & trim. Most plastic OK, not cracked. Arm rests are newer, dark blue.

            Recoverable? Not by me.

Planning to clean it, photo it, put on eBay, or part out, all in next 3 months.
Homeowners' Association is politely asking "When....?" Of course, when that one's gone there's still the two 1984 244's to get gone, too.

            Regards,

            Bob

BTW Car is located near Cypress, TX, some 25 miles NW on US 290 from downtown Houston.
