average life of main fuel pump? 200

Am I runing on borrowed time. I'm comtemplating a long trip, got 270K miles on this brick(89). Blower motor just gave out also. Pumps runs fine, no noise, pre pump and filters been changed.

Should I change it part of maintance?

My car is still on the original pump at 212k, but I can tell that it should be pushing more fuel than it currently is, espicially during boost. 270k your pump could have a while to go, or might be on the way out, but it's hard to tell. If everything is working fine, you should probably leave it, but if its eating fuses and making a lot a noise it should be checked out.

People have chimed in on other posts that they are in the 200K area and never changed it. I got somewhere around 150K. The Brushes in Fuel pumps do where out just like any other motors.
    See what the others say.
