starting or lack of ??? 700

Got ovlov 740gle from '90 with fuel injection system.
Getting progressively difficult to start cold.
If I start it with some gas pedal, it usually starts ok.
As it's an automatic starting with pedal is a pain.
Also sometimes it starts then the revs drop and it shuts off.

Help !! please as this is a great car in every other respect and this is bugging the hell out of me.
