Air box mods 700

I have the stock air box in my 745 turbo. I just replaced the air filter. What would be a good way to get cold air in there? I notice the flap at the bottom, and the rubber around that flap is old, crusty, and broken in some parts. I was thinking of cutting a hole in the bottom part, and running some PVC down near the front. Has anyone done this? What size piping would be good? Does any water get up there?

Can I do anything to the flap? How do I know if it even works properly? The car heats up real fast, like a block or two of driving and the car will be up to temp. Does the flap close after it's warmed up? I just wonder if i'm starving the engine of cold air if its not working properly. Thanks.

I'm thinking about modifying my airbox as well on my 88 turbo 740 and have been looking around and found a great resource. I will be ordering one for myself soon. Try this site:
