1800s and rust 1800

How in the world did Irv manage to drive that '66 P1800 for 36 straight years without it totally rusting before him?

The only way to keep your swedish iron in good shape is to clean the undercarriage regularly. This is best done with a power wahser that emits warm or hot water. The point is to dilute and ultimately remove salt. I think Irv probably does this. Also i read an article in the philadelphia inquirer about him and his car. He has had a few fender benders over the years, who knows....he may have had minor rust repair at some point.
