Starla exhaust 200 1987

Boardmembers,
Is starla the oem, or equivelant to the aluminized exhaust that came as oem from the factory? I have had fantastic reliability out of the oem stuff(still have the original from manifold to first muffler at 150000 miles.)

I'd say it's the best quick fix for your dollar. I just put on the $96 kit about a month ago. I had one big complaint. The axle pipe fits into the rear muffler without any sleeve. It just slips in. The clamp they provide does not hold that part in worth crap. I ended up dremmeling slats in the muffler end and then I was able to secure the axle pipe. Seems fine so far.

From my research and direct comparisons, having installed both Starla, Bosal, and Volvo systems, the Bosal is/was OEM.

Starla is Walker, just made in Sweden (big deal). It recently has gained am OEM-like designation. I gather it is be way of them being the biggest market share manufacturer under the Walker empire.

The on-line vendors another poster mentions sell Starla as a kit, making things very handy.

To use Bosal, you'lll need to buy "a' la carte", including the gaskets, nuts & bolts. A local import parts house might be a good route.

I do not know the answer to your question, but I have seen them advertised by Europarts on Ebay as OEM.

I installed Starla exhaust on my 91 240, from the CAT back, all hangars, clamps, etc. The quality seemed very good, but time will tell. The bends in the pipe were smooth, not ribbed. Everything fit perfectly; no problem.
