Trunk versus ignition verus valey keys? 200

Thanks for the suggestions about getting a trunk key made from the ignition key. I just took a look at the two keys I had made at the dealer. They're both quite different. The trunk blank is shorter and has a different pattern than the ignition key, plus the owner's manual makes no reference to a valet key(the parts guy originally thought I just had a valet key as well). Bob mentioned that his trunk key uses the same pattern as his other key. Does anyone know when Volvo went to the different style?

Volvo changed the locks in 1986 when they installed the new lock with the
aero trunk. Before that the trunk, and glovebox share the same key. The door and
ignition shared the same key also. This from what I know is from around 1978-79
to 1985. The early 240s are the same as a 140 series with a separate key for
the door and ignition.
