Busted speedometer & feul gauge 200 1986

I'm the proud new owner of an '86 240 GL wagon. Curious how to fix the speedomete & fuel gauge which stopped working while w/ the previous owner. All other gauges in the cluster work fine. The old owner said they seem to work every now & then so it seems to be a loose connection or something? Any ideas? Thanks much : )

Usually there is a specialized business that deals with speedometers. All I know is that none of the local mechanics in my area can deal with broken speedometers. I live in Metro Atlanta region and it is to my understanding that there is only one business in the whole of North Georgia which can deal with speedometers. So,it could be hard to find someone who can do the job.
