Identifying type of turbo 700

I recently purchased a 1991 740 turbo wagon and the oil supply line for the turbo is leaking. I was wondering how to identify what brand of turbo I had.
I believe it is either Mitsubishi or Garret, but can't tell which one. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

The most obvious difference is that the Misubishi has a large "hose clamp" holding it into the exhaust manifold. The Garrett has bolts. You'll also notice the Mitsu has the blow-off actuator on the turbo, rather than in-line.

If it has NOT been changed from the factory, it will be a mitsu, i dont thing volvo used garrett afert about 88-89, although they are speratic on cars throught about '90. the easyest way to tell is to look at the markings on the turbo. a garrett will have a tag in it about 1" x .5" and the mitsu has the little tri-star mitsu icon on it...... you may need a box of shop towels to wipe enuf grung off of it to see these, but it's worth a shot. also you can tell by the placement of the blow off actuator. also check your maintence history and see if at any time it had been replaced. you'll notice a 1500-3000$ statement pretty readily, and their should be a few tear marks on the paper too.

Volvo used a Garrett T25 turbo STOCK on 90+ 740s. I know because I have one, and it also specifies so in my green book. Rebuilding a turbo costs 300 bucks, and usually is the only thing needed to repair it. You only need to replace the whole thing if the housing gets cracked, etc...

Garrett T25 also had an integrated cbv, just like the mitsu.

I have a stock '90 760 Turbo and it has the Mitsubishi. I was under the impression that they dumped the Garrett in the late 80s.

As i mentioned, they stoped using garrett in the late 80's, BUT for some reason there are a few on cars out there. this is kinda unexplained, but almost all of the use mitsu.
also think that at any time they could of possibly been replaced. the origional owners could of been told "oh it's your turbo it's gonna need a new one" and so either the wrrenty paid for it or some cutomer did.

A giant Thank You to everyone who replied 700

Thanks to all of you I have determined that I have a Mitsubishi turbo. I also have figured out that it is just a bad o-ring that is causing the leak. Thanks again.
