By far the easiest way to do that is to unbolt the intake manifold and pull it out of the way. There is no need to disconnect anything at all. Then the hose is easily accessable. The flame trap and oil sep box are also easy to clean or replace. When you buy your hoses, you will receive a curly-que looking thing with two white marks in the center. This is the heater hose from the inatke manifold area to the valve to the firewally. Align the hose so it will fit, cut out the hose section between the white marks, install the valve, clamp it and install the whole shebang.

Get an all metal radiator from your fave supplier, Nissen radiator, and enjoy increased reliability.

There is a small sealing ring at the back of the water pump on the exhaust side. This is best done when changing the water pump, although the pipe might be unbolted from the block during hose replacement.

Don't forget the overflow tank hoses.

New antifreeze, let the system burp the air out and you're good to go.
