Turn signals-grounding 700 85

Hello all-

I've got an intermittent problem with my turn signals on my 740 wagon. Sometimes, especially when it's wet out, they will start to either blink at a higher-than-normal rate or go completely dead. More rarely, they will start to blink and get stuck with the lights on continuously, leaving me to lift the lever up and down to get them to blink. I've been combing the archives for a while now and I keep seeing suggestions that I should check the ground connections. But where should I do this? My Haynes manual was no help in locating the grounding points. In the front, the wires seem to be enclosed in a black tube that dissapears down behind the engine/accessories near the firewall. Can anyone tell me where I should be looking? Also, can you think of any other causes for this problem besides a bad relay which I've already resoldered? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me. I really appreciate it.
