The 122 runs!!! 120-130 66

Saturday was warmer than usual here in Denver so I met a friend at the garage and worked on the 122, and finally got it started!! After a few tweaks, I even drove it around the block. Need to go throught the break-in still, and need an exhaust, but otherwise, it's FINALLY done.

I just want to thank everyone who has supplied help on this over the past year or so. Because I don't want to leave anyone out, I won't list all the names, but this board has been the best resource of advice and answers.

Soon it will be completely done, and the 1800 goes into the garage. Again, thank you all. Initially I'd said I'd have a BBQ when it was all finished for all those that could make it. As usual, it took about twice as long as expected, but I'll let everyone know when it is!!

Pictures to come.

Re: The 122 runs!!! 120-130 66

OK....Saturday wasn't too awful cold....

but it weren't exactly warm.

As I recall, I made one short drive on Saturday, and I had the heater on full blast. I don't want to hear about these heated shops in Denver! It was a nice day....but not abnormally nice. Average at best.

I didn't get a damn bit of car work done this weekend, but it makes me all warm and fuzzy to know that when I go out to start the 145 tomorrow morning, all I'll have to do is pull the choke and twist the key (no block heater).

Its 0 out now...fixin to get down to 5 or 10 below tonite. A good time to have a car that starts (with or without a block heater)!

Congrats on getting the 122 going! I'm sure it will be a great car for years to come. Looking forward to the pictures!

Cheers,

Matt B

Heated garage?!? No way. I was just out in the sun some. It must be the tropical southern regions of the state that were getting warmed up a bit. Cold now, though. Really damn cold. . . .

I agree with you that there are few things in life that are as rewarding as a car that starts right up on those cold mornings. To have a carbed car that does that must be even better!

There are a few photos at the top of the list.

Regards

Yay! Excellent!

So what tweak did you do that allowed it to fire up?

Many congrats, Justin. VERY cool!

Well, I won't tell you what is was exactly, for fear of losing all credibility, but let's just say that the firing order is now 4-2-1-3. So anyway, a huge sigh of relief was heard Saturday. I still need an exhaust, a properly wired (or tested) OD, an attached hood, a license plate, and an open road!

Mine too! Oh, wait. I said that. But it is reassuring to know that people thought as of as the references for old Volvos have fallen into the same trap.
