Pulling to the right update 900 1991

A few months back I talked about the problem I was experiencing with the car pulling to the right all the time, with force. Some responded they had the same problem. I was running Dunlop tires at the time. Had them rotated, balanced, car algined, everything I could think of. Still pulled to the right. I just put a new set of Nokian NRW all season tyres on. Pulling is gone and car rides like a new car. Go figure. Watch your rubbers out there.

      Joe and Steve,

I have the Dunlop SP 8000 tires they are really sticky tires but my car also pulls to the right. I have had numerous alingments, New bushings put on and a new steering rack added, after all this my 960 still pulled to the right. Volvo was not able to diagnose the problem and the tire shop told me that those belts don't shift. The dunlops also only lasted 12000 miles. I guess I will have to get the Michelin XGTZ4's again. I hate to spend 163.00 a tire. Do you think there are any other good tires out there?

      Thanks,

      Brandon

I would look at the tyres that Nokian has to offer. The NRW I purchased were 50k rated, cast around 104.00 mail order, freight included. You won't get the free rotation and all the other extra's though. I have Michelin on the 240, they will be changed to Nokian in time.

Re: Pulling to the right update 900 1991

I recently had to have my 960 looked over real good at a reputable, experienced frame shop. It was pulling to the right after several alignments and alignment checks, two new tires ($160.00), etc. There are some things, front and back, that cannot be conventionally aligned but have to be measured, replaced and REMEASURED, which is usually the step some shops miss, or the part has to be sophisticatedly bent. Some do not bother to seriously look at the back because the computer tells them that nothing can be done back there. This was part of the problem with mine, it was several degrees out because of a bent camber from a poor lift placement. The car was lifted for an oil change, or something, by placing the vertical part of the lift right onto the camber! Watch this. Make sure the frame shop has experience with the 960! Volvo dealer frame shops are not always the best, I have found. In fact, mine was so honest about it that they referred me to a frame shop that sees a lot of wrecked vehicles. Hope this helps.
