Wagon: Rear wiper motor running 200 1989

Has anyone ever run into this problem before? After closing the rear hatch and starting the car the other day, I heard this awful mechanical noise coming from the rear. I though at first my fuel pump might have gone to Valhalla, but upon further investigation (and a few broken panel clips in the tailgate), I discovered it was the rear wiper motor. The casing seems to have seperated from the gear head. I guess this allowed seomthing inside to ground itself, and cause it to try to run. I am able to temporarily fix it by pushing everything back together and carefully closing the tailgate. How hard is it to remove the motor for replacement or repair?

    Randy -

Have you got small hands? It helps. Take off the inside trim panel from the cargo door. Have a look down at the motor to see where things are located. With the cargo door open you can see how it is mounted. As I recall it is mounted on a metal piece that is in turn attached to the door frame.

You may have to get the motor out in order to remove the wiring harness connector.

    Good Luck,

    Bob
