Can't remove seat! 700 90

Hi All,

I am trying to score a set of seats from the Junkyard. The drivers seat motor is toast so we couldn't get to the rear seat bolts to get it lose. We didn't have any box end wrenches with us would these have worked or will we have to cut the seats lose? Is there a trick to disengaging the motor to slide the seat forward? Please help these seats are open to the environment and it has been raining non-stop. I hope to get this seat out very soon to prevent anymore damage to the leather.

Thanks

You probably can get the tool at your Volvo dealer or even at a junkyard if you can find a tool kit in one of them....it's small maybe 6 inches long and 1/8" diam....shaped like model "T" starter crank handle, it should be unexpensive...less then $5.00.....

After you get the seats out go www.leatherique.com and use their products to recondition them.

There is a special tool to wind the seat forward, they used to come in the tool kit. It looks sort of like a speedo cable connected to a speedhandle you insert it under a seat into the plastic guide into the motor and crank by hand.( I didn't say it was easy though)good luck!

What does a speedo cable look like? Is it solid metal? Looking sort of like the spare tire jack handle?

Re: Can't remove seat! 700 90

It's a very thin piece of round cable that is shaped to sqare on the drive end,the shaft is very flexable,it's probably a 1/8" in diameter,it's a very small version of what you used to turn over a model -t engine!
