Quick help on a 745t wagon 700 1985

Like an idiot I pulled the head off the attachment on the end of my old sender harness before seeing which wires went in which holes. Can someone pull the left rear panel (for the "driver's side storage bin") on the back floor and look at the sender cable to tell me the order of the wires?

The sender cable has one grey/white wire and one purple wire. The wires that couples to it has one whitish cable and one red. I figure the red mates to the purple one, but I want to be sure before I put the clip on the end of the sender cable. So, is it:

red > purple

whitish > grey/white

Thanks a bunch.

Re: Quick help on a 745t wagon 700 1985

Your 1985 uses different colors than on my 1987. My car uses brown instead of red>purple. The whitish>grey/white is consistent.

Now consider this, you can't mess it up since you are only connecting the power lead and ground to a variable resistor. Changing connections shouldn't make any difference. A resistor does not not have polarity prefence.

I figured it didn't matter, but just wanted to be sure. No need to be make informed guesses when wiring components that sit submerged in the fuel tank, right? ;)

Thanks again,

Rick
