Tailgate Wiper Blades 200 84

I can't find a wiper blade that will mount on the tailgate wiper arm. They give you 3 different attachments and all of them are too big to snap on to the the end of the arm. Am I missing a piece that doesn't come with new blades? or is there some sort of rig that I need to make . Thanks, Marty

Re: Tailgate Wiper Blades 200 84

I doubt either. I've had an 80 245 and a 92 960, an have changed the tailgate wiper a dozen times. Certainly stick with Bosch wipers, but I can't imagine that any name brand would not have the proper fittings. I think they're usually the hook-type mechanism.

Re: Tailgate Wiper Blades 200 84

The '84 I have uses a bayonet mount blade. That is a flat bar with a little pip that matches the hole in the blade mount.

And it is an 11" blade. Not exactly easy to find.

I've had the same loose fit problem. An easy (but ugly) fix is to wrap the end of the arm with a wee bit of electrical tape to ensura a friction fit before mounting the blade.

Re: Tailgate Wiper Blades 200 89

Hello Evan,

I have an '89 240 (5spd wagon with 154k miles). The rear wiper arm is the type that is flat and curls around 180* at the end (do the earlier models?) I replace the wiper assembly with an 11" Bosch micro edge blade and holder. It fits well. If all else fails, you might look for the newer style.

I replaced the front ones at the same time, so I just buy two packs of refills for the fronts, and then use a pair of diagonal cutters to trim the longer size down to 11" for the rears. Then I end up with one spare for the front or rear.
