Has anyone installed this device into their volvo and had an increase in power? It is even noticeable?

You've run into an nest of the dreaded Volvo jokers. Next thing you know, they will be throwing puns all over the place. If the gas from these puns could be collected and injected into your engine, you might get an improvement in mileage. Devices like the "Tornado", if I understand what it does, have been around for a long time with no success except to raise money for the seller. They used to have one which inserted into the throat of your carburetor to swirl the air around. Actually, the swirling is bad. Most intake system engineers go to great lengths to design a straight, smooth flow of air into the cylinder, the faster, the better. The atomization of the fuel, i.e., the mixing of the fuel and incoming air is done when the injector sprays fuel at the intake valve area.
The only place I've seen a swirl mentioned seriously is in the design of the interior of the cylinder where they attempt to draw in the fuel/air mixture and get it to all parts of the combustion chamber equally. I would very skeptical of any add-on gadget.

This device is supposed to improve air flow characteristics around bends in the intake plumbing and improve fuel atomization. Per the installation instructions on the website, it would be installed upstream of the air filter box and MAF on our Volvos. The air filter would straighten out the airflow (i.e., change it from swirling turbulent to more laminar flow) and completely negate any benefits that the Tornado would provide--and I'm not willing to claim that it would provide benefits to begin with.

You *MAY* get an increase in mileage if you drive THROUGH a tornado and it picks up your car and sets it down 1/2 mile closer to where you were going.
because you would go 1/2 mile on ZERO gallons!

Naahhhh......
You forgot the underlying physics.
Inside a tornado the air pressure drops. Thus, the gasoline inside the tank will boil away. Even worse, because the tank is sorta sealed, it may first balloon and then burst.
Moreover, because the car gets spun around, he may go 1/2 mile in the wrong direction, so even though he uses NO gas getting there, he must consume gas getting back to ground zero.
Now, for high pressure, perhaps a drive through the Marianas Trench....

This is a great idea! In fact there is a car down the street that has been driven through the Marianas Trench. It is hell on rocker panels...

I'd consider that route, but I don't think I could take the pressure. One thing is for sure, however: You really get deep into your work.

Really I think this guy is just fishing. Eel just have to weight and sea what comes of it. Pretty good bait, though. Or maybe he is haking a pole?

That may be, but it's a swell idea, so let him whale about it and don't chop him at the knees. He floundered for awhile, but is now on an even keel. At first I thought it was a fluke, too, but then the scales tipped in his favor.
I don't mean to be stern -- now I mast head for chow -- OK, chum?

Sure, I'll have a reel tail for you, needs no props, and it won't be a line. It'll wring your chine and yawl dance a jib (and that's no jibe), if you ketch my drift.
Are you feeling a little dinghy, or is it time to punt? One too many beers and you'll be skiff!

That's a good line, Don, but let me steel your leader. The blues 'll be running schooner than you dink. Skiffy? Not hardly. I have to work 'til mooring.
BTW, be on the lookout. Someone up above here posted a warning about the Volvo Punsters. I have the harpoons ready if any of the nasty varmints show.

Sorry, Ed, I won't bite on it. That would be a bilge thing, oar at least too bass. It's not a transom comment.
Volvo Punsters, here on this starboard? I don't think so -- it'd be kinda fishy -- Volvos are cars, but we have Penta energy. Anyway, they'd have a hull of a time getting by us. We'd ketch 'em and force 'em to swim a few lapstrakes, just for gaffs.

No. I'll continue tiller I'm outta wind. It's boom or bust. You can't painter me into a corner even though you think this is mainly sheet.
And you thought we were trawls under the bridge?
You realize, I hope, that the stupider the better.... It's inverse logic at its finest -- the worse they are, the better they are (much as Volvo dealers think of themselves).
So give it a try -- caulk it up to experience.

IMHO if you install the tornado in conjunction with magnets on the fuel line and a troll doll on the rear view mirror and coast down hills and change the camshaft, you will have more power and get better gas milage.
Want to buy my bridge? Tidewater frontage in Arizona.
This is only my opinion. The truth may vary substantially.
