FYI: power window regulators 700 '86

If you ever need to replace a power window regulator, try to get one out of a '84 (85?) or older because they came with hyperheavyduty metal regulators instead of the flimsy plastic ones found in at least from 86 on, and the fit is perfect. After some very entertaining sightseeing i paid $45 for mine, other boneyard types were asking $65 to $100 a piece (for plastic ones).

Re: FYI: power window regulators 700 '86

I'm now inclined to belive that I happened to stumble upon a replacement metal power window regulator at the salvage yard. Besides the two replies that have dealt with this issue, I can recall paying attention to the nuts that held the regulator in place; they had visible marks of having been handled with something other than an optimal tool for the task at hand, suggesting that I was not the first person there since the car left Goethenburgh, Sweden.

Congratulations for having a salvage yard with reasonable pricing around. In Albuquerque, New Mexico, all scrapyards I've been to (enough) seem to have a common policy; preferably at least half of the list price for a brand new part.

My '91 745 replacement (used ) and original regualtors were both metal not plastic. Never heard of the plastic type, paid $50.00 for complete driver window motor/regulator assy from B&D salvage up in New England. B&D has it all.
