oil pressure sensor leaking 200 1982

Well, whoever pointed it out was correct.

My oil leak is at the oil pressure sensor.

It leaks around the seal at the engine, and also right out the back where the wire slips on.

Any idea where I can get another unit cheap?

Also, can I fix mine temporarily??

AND>. what kind of wrench do I use to get in there.. or is it easier to take off the oil filter and get at it from under the car?

My 1/2 inch drive sockets aren't deep enough to clear the spade connecter and get at the nut part.

I'm glad it wasn't any gaskets.

Re: oil pressure sensor leaking 200 1982

remember to instal a crush washer like you would find on a fuel banjo bolt.

Aluminum or copper would work.

That may be why yours is leaking?

Re: oil pressure sensor leaking 200 1982

She's already installed.

I got a NAPA part for $4.90.

it doesn't mount up flush like the stock part, so I couldn't have used a washer.

My pressure switch was leaking right out the back of itself by the spade connector.

anyway, everything is working. No leaking oil, and it runs just fine again.

So now who wants to buy it??? :)

Re: oil pressure sensor leaking 200 1982

My oil pressure sender is leaking, too. If there is no washer or gasket, what seals it? I want to make sure the new one doesn't leak, too.

Thanks much,

Aaron

I think the B230 switches mount with a crush washer---earlier motor's switches have a pipe thread--no gasket/washer needed. -- Dave

Should be able to pick one up at any auto parts store, or they are pretty cheap at the dealer. As I recall, 15/16 deep socket will remove it.
