Window Washer Doesn't Work 700 1990

The window washer on my 1990 740 suddenly stopped working the other day. I have plenty of fluid (also, no indicator light) and it isn't frozen; it's just that nothing squirts out when I use the washer. I'm noticing that there is no sound when I try to wash the windows; it's as if the motor running the washers is gone. Has anyone else seen this happen?

Check (with a test light) to see if you have power to the motor. If power is present when you pull the lever to wash the windows the motor is at fault. I have successfully opened the gear mechanism on the bottom of the motor and cleaned things up to restore the function, but most people just replace the motor.

FYI I recently purchased a replacement motor (non volvo) from the local parts store for $12.00. Volvo wanted $65.00 for an exact replacement. This was for a 240.
