Heater blower 700 1989

When the blower quit working, I checked the input voltage and found it was getting 12 volts (approx) in positions 1 through 4. I pulled the motor to replace it, but first checked the operation by connecting it to the battery with jumpers. It turned powerfully and freely. Can anyone explain this problem?

I don't have an ammeter so I couldn't check the input under load.

Re: Heater blower 700 1989

If you have 12 volts at the blower motor, and it does not run installed, you have a bad ground connection. Connect the blower motor power lead, and then use a jumper wire to connect the blower motor housing to chassis ground. If the motor runs, you have a bad ground. If it does not run with 12 volts and a good ground, you have an open (or intermittant open) in the motor.
