engine numbers 700 1989

Recently purchased a 1989 740 turbo(6months) went to change the crank timing belt gear and discovered that the engine may be a 1993. The gear set and belt had the rounded tooth design. Any way to determine what year the engine is? What differences are there if any in the engines? Also is there any difference or tips in the timing belt replacement other then what I read in the brickyard? Thanks

Look under the turbo on the block. The date should be cast into the block there. It's a little hard to read. The head casting date is at the back of the head. The dates are inside a circle.
