Questions About R-Sport Springs 200 1987

How much stiffer are the R-Sport front springs, and were they used on the police package 240's? I'm looking to buy a set of stiff springs from a fellow BB lister that have come from an '84 244 police car, but I'd like to know something about how much stiffer the springs are before I buy them. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks.

Re: Questions About R-Sport Springs 200 1987

Since no one else is replying, here goes.

I think the suspension in the Police Package is the same as the Turbo suspension, so it would not have the R-Sport springs.

Perhaps search the archives for information on the package? There was someone who found one in a junkyard and posted all the exclusive features of the Police Package.

To make the R-sport springs worthwhile, I think you would need the 21/23 bars from the 79 GT. Any other combo and the car would still be biased towards understeer.

Re: Questions About R-Sport Springs 200 1987

I searched the archives for "police" and didn't find any useful information. Later on I found something about the r-sport springs being 30% stiffer than stock, but that was in context with the '79 GT, so still no info about the police package.

The guy who has the 244 police car said the springs felt really stiff, and he's already swapped out the rear springs. I guess the car could have wagon springs in the rear and stock springs in the front, or maybe diesel/PRV-6 springs in the front.

Thanks for the response.
