VERY hard start in cold weather 700 89

Ok, I have taken this car to 2 shops and even forked out $500.00 for a new temp sensor. That was last February. Car has always been a slow start (think I'll check the ground wire mentioned on this board) but this weekend we had sub freezing weather and now it won't start until I let it sit in sunshine for about 15 mins. Any ideas what to do next?

Check the fuel pump check valve. the cheap/poor mans way I checked mine, is to just kick the starter to let the think think you are starting it, then wait, and do it again, let fuel pump run, then try to start.

The check valve keeps the fuel from drainin back to the tank when it sits.

It is about a $30 part that sits under the drivers seat with the fuel filter and pump.

It not that, check the condition of your battery - a low voltage will affect the car more than you know.

anyhow, if niether of these, give us more detail on the "slow start"

does it crank slow, or just take a long time to fire up?

Thanks! I will try both of those tips.

The slow start means that there is a delay of anywhere from 3-15 seconds from turning the ignition and the engire firing. This only happens when the engine is cold.

I have a delay in my car when the key is turned to when the idiot lights come on. When the lights are out, the car won't start. Once they come on, the car will start. The colder it is, the longer it takes. I think it is related to the fuel pump relay, middle row left side. I might take it out and resolder it, again. It could also be the connectors in the socket. Check yours to see if it's the same problem.
