Does anyone have recomendations for a business that does mag wheel repair, preferably on the west coast to cut down on shipping?

When trying to get the damaged rim fixed out of the set of 18" FWD wheels that I'm currently trying to sell, I tried two places. Both on the East Coast, unfortunately for you. Wheel Fix It in Huntsville, AL had the best prices... $80 or so to refinish and $120 to repair. Unfortunately, they said they couldn't fix the rim. Said something about they couldn't get at the hairline crack from the inside of the rim to weld it.... whatever. The next place I went to was The Wheel Shop up in Connecticut. $150, and the wheel came back looking like brand f-ing new and straight as an arrow. It's now the best one out of the four. Contact me if you can't find them on the web or yellow pages or such, b/c I'll have to do some digging myself to find them again.

    Good luck,

John, I just tried (and failed) to find the invoice for a West-coast wheel repair shop I had used a year or so ago. I was less than impressed with their work. I sent a 20 spoke wheel from a 1990 760T to repair a gouge in the rim ( about 3/8" deep x 2" long). The wheel came back with a noticeable wobble at the repair site and the painted finish had numerous dimples. Sent the wheel back and, when returned, the repaired area was still obvious but the finish was better. If you have a shop in mind, e-mail me with the name...it might ring a bell. Good luck.

The business mentioned uses a mangled wheel in Rolling ads that is far beyond repair, by their own admission. Furthermore, they quoted me $150-200 to straighten a minimally bent wheel. I am not sure when, if ever, that would make economic sense.

There's one in Bath, PA that is supposed to be good. I've heard it mentioned several times on the Brickboard with nothing but positive comments about the work they do. Here's their website: http://www.wheelcollision.com

    Good luck.
