oil trap cleaning 200 82

I need to pull the oil trap, I think its clogged. Do I need to remove the intake manifold and LH injection stuff to get access, or is there an easier way?

Thanks for any advice.

Re: oil trap cleaning 200 82

oh, heck no!

It looks difficult. It's not. Assuming you have an '82 with K-Jet, remove the hose between the fuel distributor and the throttle body. Boom! You're there.

Re: oil trap cleaning 200 82

Its the first of the LH injections. I'm not trying to clean the flame trap that's done, but its clogged underneath (oil seperator or oil trap).

It doesn't look like I can get at it without pulling manifold etc.

Any thoughts?

Re: oil trap cleaning 200 82

I just did this yesterday as part of a major overhaul. The oil trap is held down by two 12mm bolts that also hold a bracket for the air/fuel control unit. So yea, you do have to remove the intake manifold, and the air/fuel control unit. The oil trap is plastic, you take out the two bolts and it slide right up and out. Be careful not to break the tube that fits into the block. This is where the trap slides into place. At that point, you probably should replace any worn hoses, too.

What if it's a 1990 240?

Happy T-Day!

Should be the same as the other one that was described. It's a very easy task, and cheap enough to simply change it out!
