Stereo Installation 200 88

I am installing a stereo in my '88 240 GL Sedan (upper dash) and am wondering how to bypass the factory amp (you know the one with the "ripping" 7 watts a side). I have the unit installed using front a Volvo wiring harness that is equipped for front speakers only. How do I know if I am bypassing the amp or not? Where is the amp located?

Re: Stereo Installation 200 88

the amp should be located under the dash on the drivers side. It runs the two speakers and the radio ran two. just cut the speakers wires from the amp and reoute them to the output on your new stereo, which I assume will drive 4 speakers.

Re: Stereo Installation 200 88

When you say "...it runs the two speakers and the radio runs two" do you mean that the amp only powers 2 speakers? The two rear? Thanks, good info.
