radio removal 900 95

how is the radio removed from the consol in a late 940 series? I see two small openings in the middle of either side of the radio, but nothing happens when I put in a screwdriver and push/pull/poke, etc. I am about ready to take a pair of pliers and start ripping.

Re: radio removal 900 95

Additional to Steve's info...

I found that pulling the radio towards you as you lever the tabs inward was most awkward.

I did the job by myself, however, if you can muster some help, the help can pull the radio while you lever the tabs. The fit of the radio is snug so a slight sideways movement with the pulling can help. Be careful of the plastic facia fitting which the top of the radio comes into contact as you pull it out.

Just installed a cd changer into the glovebox so radio removable is a recent task.

Take care,

John H from DOWNUNDER

Re: radio removal 900 95

The radio has two spring clamps in the middle of either side that lock against the compartment frame. By inserting two screwdrivers and levering these inwards (toward the radio chassis) you can pull the radio out. Use a flashlight to see the clamps.
