OD relay wiring 120-130 66

Hello again! I am installing a M41 in an amazon and having trouble with the relay. As I understand it, the OD engages when the solinoid has current. Does the current need to be constant for the OD to stay engaged? I can't figure out which terminal on the relay works like that. One (I forgot the number) will turn on every other time the switch is pulled, but doesn't stay on otherwise. Another turns on every time the switch is pulled, but doesn't stay on in between pulls. I have 3 relays, now, and none have the "one pull = on and another pull = off" function I think I'm looking for. Like a light switch. Also, one of them that is actually a headlight relay from a 240, will make the fuel pump relay turn off and on again any time the switch is pulled and one of the terminals in question has a ground, as in a test light. Does that make sense? Any time the test light turns on, the fuel pump relay power must blip or whatever for a moment, then turn back on.

Thanks

Re: OD relay wiring 120-130 66

All your OD solenoid needs is a constant 12 volts and it'll stay engaged. Remove the voltage, it disengages (simple).

If you have a wiring diagram for that car, volt guage or test light and still can't figure it out as it's originally intended, you can hotwire your OD solenoid so that it'll work with a toggle switch.

Re: OD relay wiring 120-130 66

I had a relay on mine for a while and finally took it off

and wired direct to a switch. Would NOT engage any time the

system voltage was low (lights or heater on, etc)

I'm not sure what benefit the relay offers but it was

definitely no benefit to me! I have a lighted toggle switch

on my dash now and it works every time.
