What year did airbags become standard?

I'm shopping for a used 240 or 740 wagon for my mother and was wondering what year Volvo started putting airbags in their vehicles. I have a hunch it was 1989.

Orest-

In the USA airbags were introduced in '87 on 760 models- not all came with them that year, about 10% of production. Each year increased the ratio until '90 when all USA cars had airbags. '90 was the first year for any 240 airbag cars.
