Bad Insulation on Engine Wiring 200 83

Hi:

The insulation is cracking off most of the engine compartment wiring, and the replacement harness is expensive! Any other options?

Re: Bad Insulation on Engine Wiring 200 83

One option is to go to a wrecking yard and look for a wrecked '83-'84 240 (if non-turbo) or an '81-'85 240 (if turbo) with the same engine and pull off the wiring harness, as long as it is in good condition. You could also look on ebay for a used replacement harness. I've seen several of them, and the price is much lower than what a new one would cost. A third option is to repair the harness, and someone here can provide instructions to do a repair.

If your car is a turbo, check out ebay Item #485321424. It didn't sell at $50, so the seller may still have it.

    Good luck.
