There was a discussion last week about the popular 15", 5 spoke, 240 alloys fitting on the 700 series cars.

I know there's no question that the diameter and offset are correct for use on non-ABS cars which came with 14" wheels, and it sounds like they MAY fit 700 cars with ABS and the thinner Girling brakes used to 1990.

Can anyone say for certain that they will or will not fit 700/900 cars with the larger Girling calipers used from 1991 up, a/k/a "jumbo" brakes?

They will NOT fit. I've got 6 of them in the basement that will back me up on this!

240 turbo alloys won't fit on a 700 without spacers and longer, stronger lugs.....some have put them on 700s by grinding on the wheels to clear the front calipers: a disaster waiting to happen......on older 700s, you could grind some metal off the front caliper outer housing until the wheels fit; but you'd need to be real careful and not remove too much metal....not the best way to go.....find some 700 5 spokes or the 10 spoke 700 turbo wheels

So, does anybody know if proper 16" alloy rims exist for a 1990 740 non-turbo Wagon?

Yes. MM 11's.

The "swept" 5 spoke wheel is the 16" option on early '90s 700 and 900 cars.
