Shifting into Park 900 1995

The lever won't go into park on occassion. When shifting into Park, the button on the lever is depressed but "something" is blocking the path of the lever and the transmission won't go into Park. It feels like there is something holding the lever out of Park. Any ideas out there?

Bob,

I had the same problem with my 1996, plus you had to jiggle the lever to get it to start on occasion. There is a small gate that is activited by the shift lever and can get bent. The dealer had to replace it. One of 35-40 things to go wrong with my 960 (:>((
