Steering vibrates 900 1995

Hi, I'm from Singapore and its been sometime since I last participated in this forum. The model of my car is the 960 sedan (known as the 964 I think). Lately the steering wheel of my car vibrates whenever I travel any faster than 70 mph. Since the front tires were quite worn, I replaced them with brand new ones. I had the wheel alignment checked and the tires balanced (high speed, on wheel balancing). Unfortunately, the problem is still there. Figured that there could be something wrong with the suspension or steering parts. The shocks on the car has never been changed and mileage is about 60,000 miles. Could the old shock absorbers be the problem? Hope someone can help advise. Thanks.

Check the ball joints, as this is a likely culprit. Also could be tie rod ends. I replaced the radius rod bushings, which really made an improvement in my 940 as well. Hope this helps.

switch your tires/wheels front to back. Alloy wheels are junk, and one of yours may be bent. Balancing will not solve a bent wheel problem. If the vibration goes away from the steering, (but you can still feel it in the seat of your pants) then you have a bent wheel.

I replaced my Front shocks at 60k.and it made a difference. They wer totally shot. When I pulled them out and pressed in the piston it didn't expand back out. Now I have Bilsteins and it is much better. I have to replace the rears now. Try pressing the front end of you r car down. If you can bounce it like a basketball then it is time to replace them. I hope this helps.
