Hi,
I have had good luck with Fuel Injection Labs products with direct purchasing from my local automotive parts store. This was an O’REILLY distributor ship a couple years back and it comes with a lifetime warranty through their stores.
I know what you mean about having lifetime warranties worries but if you buy from brick and mortar stores locally there is more of a chance you will still have a warranty as these types of establishments buy into their previous obligations.
One can only assume tat on line sales will follow that rule of commerce about warranties.
I had the O’REILLY outfit above cover my replacement tailgate supports for my 1986 wagon. They lasted about 15 years and was sold to me by Kragen Auto.
I having my original sales receipts really helped stop any stammering. It so happens they keep records somewhere on everything you buy from these corporations past and present.
I cannot say much for FCP other than they were really good once upon a time.
Of lately though, they do not carry hardly anything for the 240s like they use too. So lifetime warranties maybe thin in places anymore. Especially with on-line mergers of companies using small “fly-by-night” operations or likewise enterprises as distributors.
So IMHO, as long as any replacements are available that will work, as in the same application, there should be a warranty.
Lift gate supports are around to stay and are used in other industries for many things.
AMMs are a lot more technical but rebuilders have covered this area for years after the OEM supply went bye bye.
Yes, spares is what I have stashed away from salvage yards.
So far they have been good or can be used for a cores if need be.
My 1984 has used two of them as they were nearly the first ones made the way they are.
On 240s some AMMS can be retired to acceptable on other models.
I Do not know if the 900’s carried the latest 240 AMM (016) and IAC valves in within their production years.
Keeping as many of our cars in the main streams of collectibles will be a big deciding factor going into future play today.
