Yellow wire to instrument cluster, and turn signal issue 200 1990

My 1990 5-speed has some electrical gremlins. The key switch seems to have a spring return issue that requires some manipulation to get some accessory functions like windows and turn signals, whereas you normally should have to only let go of the key after starting the car. I swapped out the switch ( with a used 1990 switch ) thinking this was the issue. After removal, the removed switch seemed to have the same spring tension as the "new/old switch) I guess the actual key switch is what is interfearing with the normal key location function. At this time, I also replaced the speedo with one I had in my spare parts, due to no odometer function. Now, odo works, but turn indicators in cluster do not. The exterior turn signals are working.
Also I do not know where the yellow wire goes on the cluster.
1. Is this the cruise control, and does it go to the double spade with the piece of hose protecting the terminals?
2. Is it foolish to replace a 22 year old switch with a 22 year old switch?
