Key Pos II Battery Drain S90-V90 2001

Turned my key to the accessories/position II to check a rear bulb connection. Two minutes, lights fade and suddenly, battery near dead and won't turn over. Battery is less than two years old

What are some common things to check - this has happened before, not recently, but twice with same deal with key turned to the second position for just a couple minutes.
