I have slow leak in the PS rack, which is probably original with 230k miles. I replaced the fluid when I purchased the car about 50k miles ago - used Valvoline Type F. About 20k miles ago, it started leaking, and when replacing the tie rods this weekend, I found both sides were weeping. I thought I would try some Lucas PS Stop Leak before moving to more drastic measures. Any thoughts if this would be wise or not?

If the bottled magic elixers don't work and you can't live with the leak (I've had a car fail a safety inspection because of a small rack weep) you are looking at a replacement rack - or a replacement car.

I got a rebuilt rack from one of our favourite suppliers. Despite their catalog listing of a Jorgen, it was an Atlantic Enterprises unit and leaked like a sieve immediately. I got a refund and ordered a rebuild direct from Jorgen which has been on the car since and is leak free. But big PITA R&R'ing racks twice, plus wheel alignment costs. So....caveat emptor.

One auto forum states that Jorgen has closed their business. You could try the phone number on their website (still up) to check. Sad to see many quality small rebuilders fading out.

I have use BG 44k fuel system cleaner occasionally ever since Click and Clack said they liked it. It does a good job of cleaning K-Jet injectors. Never realized BG made such a wide range of products.

Go for it with the Lucas. couple of $$$ try and will of will not work.

Lucas power steering stop leak has been very successful in my 240's. In fact I only use two "snake oils". The Lucas stop leak and BG Moa.

It is unlikely to solve your problem, but you have nothing to lose ( IF YOU KEEP YOUR RECEIPT ) Good luck. It didnt work on one of my 240s, but did on another.

You could try flushing the fluid out of the rack and replacing it with synthetic ATF. Sounds like your seals are leaking. After a month or so synthetic will clean the seals and possibly stop the leak. My 95 850 had the same problem. Switching to Mobil 1 synthetic ATF stopped the leak!

Generally these products are designed to soften and swell the rubber seals/o-rings in systems that get brittle over time. If, indeed, it's the original rack, you've really gotten good life out of it. I'd say it's worth a try, but you may be at the beginning of the end of the original rack.
