Installing outside temp gauge in 1992 740

I want to install the 940 temp gauge in my 1992 740. The car is not wired for this gadget. Looking for advice as to how this works. Thanks.

Installing outside temp gauge in 1992 740

I'll guess you have the digital ambient temp gauge from 940?

You have the temperature sensor also that mounts into the front bumper, at the horn bracket bolt, or someplace not likely affect by thermal loading such as engine heat. Road surface heat can effect the sensor when not moving if the road radiates heat.

The thermistor (thermal or temp sensor) mounts into the bumper where the car left front hydraulic damper bolts to the front metal bumper.

My encounter for these was some time ago and so other like Spook and folks may be better able to help you.

At the Oz Volvo Archive, there exists several 240 temp gauge accessory install guides. One for the analogue ambient temp gauge (I have the C° version) and one for the later digital display temp gauge. As a guide for you.

The Mitchell 1995 940 details aspects of the factory install ambient temp gauge on PDF page 24 of 25. If the year 940 you removed the gauge from, wire color may be different?

Else, certain some folks can deliver better guidance to install this nifty accessory.

Also, a Bing or Google search reveals other articles about retrofitting this factory installed or add-on accessory.
