To remove the rear seat cushion on my 960 I found it was better to pull up on the rear of the seat [it is not attached to anything].

When it is clear of the seat back you can then lift it up high enough that you can see the connectors.

The front of the seat is connected to the car floor by two clips that grip rods that are attached to the seat frame. These clips are all that connect the seat to the floor.

The clips are floor mounted and face towards the rear of the car.

The seat has to be pushed down and rearward to get it clear of the clip.

I will attempt to show the clips and the connecting frames with some pictures.

This is one of the floor hooks.

I will try to get the floor hook to show. I copied the URL that is shown below from the jpg that was uploaded to the image library. I am not sure if it is, indeed, the floor hook because I cannot see the image when I go to the image library. Perhaps this is the problem.

Finally got pics to work!

I might try your method if I have to on a 940. I posted this some time ago. I have found all kinds of stuff, soft drink spills, kid's stickers and big money from the P.O. My pic:


Push down the front part of the seat at a point about 12" from the side and then back and up. Repeat on the other side. It takes a fair amount of force to do this. Re install by lowering the seat and pushing the front of the seat back to allow the wire hoop on the seat to catch the hook on the body. I hope you're rewarded as I was.

I did start out this way but, not understanding the exact setup, I was unable to get the seat cushion to disconnect.

A friend of mine came by and he pulled the seat cushion up from the back, allowing me to now see the clip on the floor and the holding rod on the seat.

The rest was easy.

I found stuff dating from the early days of the car, including a complete Caramilk chocolate bar. It has obviously never been pulled out before.

I am trying to get one of the rear doors open. So far no luck on that one.
