Hi All,

I've been searching for rear mudflaps for my '91 740 sedan. So far, I've collected the following part numbers, none of which fit the molding quite right:

Is there another set of mudflaps that fit the post-facelift 740s? I'm not against forcing the fitment of these, but if there's a set that'll fit the molding perfectly, I'd gladly shell out for them.

I purchased a complete set and had no issues with the front flaps fitting the molding and pre-drilled holes without issue.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I want to get mudflaps fit to cut down on the salt spray this winter, as I will be driving this car through the snow.

Normally I would suggest IPD (www.ipdusa.com) for mudflaps, either OEM or aftermarket, but they don't appear to have anything for your '91 740 at the moment. Perhaps worth a call to their 1-800 line to see if they've got something that would fit, like the S80 flaps. 940's likely use the same mud flaps as the later 740s, so don't discount those. I got a proper set of front and rear flaps for my 940 at a yard to replace the wimpy little stock flaps that came with the car.

I think that the rear mud flaps on our '89 744TI were mounted to brackets that ran across the rear wheel well, they did not touch any molding. They were marked "Volvo"

It took us a bit of time to figure out what was making a dragging noise on occasion.

After looking at google images it is possible that the PO of that car made them from mudflats for an earlier model, perhaps a PV.

I swear I've seen some diagrams searching through volvopartswebstore showing additional brackets to mount the rear flaps, but I haven't been able to find corresponding part numbers. I'm thinking it is something along those lines, as there doesn't appear to be any pre-drilled holes in the rear wheel well, while there were three tapped holes for the front flaps.

I've even searched through skandix hoping to get lucky, but the part numbers listed there are eerily close to flaps I've already purchased and haven't had any luck with.

I may have to give IPD a call tomorrow, to see if they can cross reference something that will work. I'll update this thread with my findings.

Call/email these guys and ask.
