Brake bleeder 120-130 1967

I'm looking at buying a motive brake bleeder on Amazon to use on the '67 123GT. Single CCT. There is an adapter for the brake reservoir and clutch too
. Has anyone used the Motive and knows which adapter I need? Or a better suggestion for a bleeder?

If the brake lines & master cylinder are empty, I add the brake fluid from the bottom up, using a CLEAN pump-oil can & a length of clear vinyl tubing of the proper size to fit the bleeder valves. Start with the right rear since its the farthest from the master cyl. Then, the driver side rear, followed by the rt. front & lastly the left front. Pump in just enough fluid until all the air is expelled from the line. Have a helper watch the master cyl. reservoir so they can tell you when to stop pumping. Then repeat the process for the other 3 wheels. Lastly top off the brake fluid to the proper level.
This method works great since air bubbles tend to rise naturally, instead of trying to force them downward and out thru the bleeder valves.

Motive makes a flat universal style bleeder adapter that clamps to the MC reservoir using chains that loop under the MC. From personal experience do not buy that style adapter as they seal poorly. If you can find the correct screw on adapter go with that one. As an observation, a garden pump sprayer will work just fine to pressurize the MC for bleeding and is a hell of a lot cheaper than the Motive 'pump sprayer'.

I've used a Motive for a number of years. What a piece of cake it makes brake/clutch bleeding. For my 242 they make the correct cap. For my new Mazda3 they don't. So for $5 I bought a new reservoir cap at the dealer -- and added a -6AN bulkhead fitting sealed up with RTV and nylon washers. Worked like a champ -- I can attach the Motive via a hose with -6AN barbed fitting.

Timing is everything... just bought a Motive bleeder and am in the the process of adapting a salvaged brake reservoir cap (thanks, Eric!), as you show here. The "European" model comes with a cap that appears to fit the clutch master cylinder. Motive does, however offer a "Classic Volvo" adapter cap that looks like a good fit to the stock brake master cylinder reservoir (https://www.motiveproducts.com/collections/adapters). Kinda pricey, but could be a ready-made solution.

Back in the last century, my brother and his business partner bought a brake bleeder from Snap-on along with an expensive add on adapter set.

The set included all kinds of specialized adapters to fit specific vehicles, most of which they rarely worked on and also included several styles of universal adapters. There was even an adapter that had several different sized external threads, but NONE of them worked on any of the old Volvos, not even 240/260s. And to this day the entire collection sits in a box and are almost never used.

For the single circuit Volvo 122/1800 brake masters, we had to have an adapter custom made by our machinist which required a special threading die to make it and I'm pretty sure he still has the die.

And for all of the plastic Volvo reservoirs, we had to buy an adapter from Assenmacher to work on the dual circuit brake masters.

FYI, the pressurized brake bleeder from Snap-on which we named "R2-DOT4", has worked the entire time and is still in service.
