You mention the striker pin hanging the latch up on its way to opening. I think I know this by experience. What fazes me is having it suddenly occur in both rear doors at once.

Try pushing the door inward with a knee, just below the door's beltline, while you open the latch. If this fails, it might be because of the slop that develops in the outside handle from trying to overcome the sticky latch, so try again with someone helping to release the latch from inside.



Here is the solution I've used, but you can't do it until you get the door open. The pin and perhaps the hinge may need to be adjusted if the sag is considerable. Usually it is the driver's door that has the problem first.
