aluminum radiator 444-544

Anybody have a source to recommend? Am adding a/c and will need much better engine cooling, with enough room left over to mount the condenser.

Howe Racing Enterprise Inc. 989-435-7080. They will build one to your specs. The price is a bit higher but the quality is superior to the cheaply made ones. I have had no problems with mine. Hope this helps. Larry

If you do opt for a custom made radiator, have the inlet and outlet hose barbs made for 1 1/4" inner diameter hoses instead of the original 1".

This allows for better flow but you will need to use some easily available parts. The thermostat neck needs to be the later 1 1/4" style and you will need to use the hoses for later 122 and 1800S which have 1 1/4" inner diameters.

I installed a three row aluminum radiator for a 1992-2000 civic. They are quite plentiful and can be had pretty cheap. Not an exact fit but close. And had to get the outlet modified by adding an elbow to clear the fan as i recall (did it a few years ago).

I have one built for a 1961 544 B16 that has a bigger outlet and inlet. I would consider selling it.

My 544 has a swapped in B18. If you B16 aluminum radiator would fit (?) do you have a price in mind?

My aluminum radiator is for a stock B16 car. Mine has a 2.5L Chevy S10 engine and it will not cool it. Probably not for a B18 with air. I also changed the nose of the car to a B18 nose so I can fit a larger radiator and also get the hood hinges out of the engine compartment when it is closed and into the nose when closed.

I looked at several different radiators and have settled on a early Mustang as its dimensions are very close.

Best of luck.

Ray J.

There are aluminum radiators offered on ebay for 1960's era Volvos, but they appear to be the later mounting design which won't bolt into a 544.

The early and later radiators to which I refer are the same basic size, but the mounting brackets are in different locations. You might be able to relocate the brackets.

Back in the early 2000's, I sent a B16 radiator to Griffin Radiator and had them make a custom aluminum radiator.
