Remove ethanol from gasoline?

https://www.facebook.com/andrew.bumatai/videos/2073284346305944/

Probably only the western states. I can already buy 91 ethanol free at my local station in MN.

Of course, the typical Volvo garage doesn't have a 20 gallon 'unmixing' tank vented to the outdoors.

Remove ethanol from gasoline?

Can you describe this link? It sounds interesting, but not so much it will push me over the Facebook threshhold. We cannot buy ethanol-free fuel in MD except in quart-sized quantities or perhaps avgas. The canned fuel works great in the 2-cycle tools.

Remove ethanol from gasoline?

I buy ethanol free gasoline at a gas station about a mile from my house. It is a little more expensive, but the additional cost is well worth it for the lawn equipment. Marinas usually have ethanol fuel for sale. A few gas stations carry it. I usually see classic car owners buying it, and sometimes Harley-Davidson riders.

A list of stations selling ethanol free gas in Maryland is here, https://www.pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=MD

pure gas list

Hi John,

That list first crossed my field of vision about 8 or 10 years ago, not too long after MD switched from MTBE to the 10% ethanol. The only station within an hour's driving was just 3 miles away. The attendant at the register offered a knowing smile and made disparaging remarks about information from "the internet." Apparently they had tried many times to get removed from the web site.

Now, the list is changed, and the only sources I see within a reasonable drive are selling canned fuel, which I agree has made a difference in the way my chain saws perform and has me hoping I've made my last purchases of fuel line, bulbs, and Zama and Walbro carb kits for the foreseeable future. Walmart sells canned fuel.

No place to pump it into a Volvo.

pure gas list

My local Exxon/Convenience store -- about 300 yds as the crow flies from my house (big intersection to cross) has ethanol free at the pump. Use it for all my small engine needs. Have experimented with it on a few highway trips as a found a Shell station on my route to Augusta GA from Charlotte that offered it for only 5 cents more/gallon than 87 octane with ethanol. There is a fuel mileage gain -- but it's predictable and minor. Takes about 30-35% more ethanol by volume to generate the same output as gasoline. So - E10 is 10% ethanol. Remove that and replace it with gasoline and you're 10% X 30% more efficient -- say 3%. On a 40 mpg vehicle -- 1.2 mpg. Within the range of variances due to speed, traffice, weather, etc.

Remove ethanol from gasoline?

Art
Just copy and paste the link you don't need to be on Facebook to see this, (I think). It's about a couple of old guys who ride old motorcycles and just trying to get non ethanol gas by adding water and letting it combine with the ethanol so it separates and can be easily removed.

Dan

Search youtube Art - plenty of vids. Long/short - add water to the gasoline and mix, let sit. The alcohol mixes with the water and come out of solution with the gas. It’s heavier and sinks to the bottom. Drain from bottom of tank or siphon - and you’re left with ethanol free gasoline.
