Just had brakes done, and now car feels like it is straining against the brakes being on. Also a low, vibratory groaning sound intermittently . Brakes feel hot and I can smell burning. What the heck is going on? Caliper slide pins stuck? Shouldn't the mechanic who did the brakes have checked that?

    I was going to jump on the OP for wasting our time with a duplicate post until I finally noticed the stale date on this one. Hopefully we'll get some feedback in his more recent thread, although that doesn't seem forthcoming. Hope this guy isn't trying to mess with us. We can always ask Jarrod to block him if he's a nuisance either here or elsewhere as Klaus is suggesting.

          To all the users who feel they have to judge and block posts that are somehow different: I am a 68 year old retired nurse who drives an old Volvo. I try to educate myself about its workings as I cannot do the work myself, but must trust a mechanic. Whatever I posted that got you all so upset as to block me, I have no idea, but I certainly don't appreciate the posting of my name and address or the snarky comments about how I don't love my Volvo, must be a troll, has posted other weird posts so isn't legit... You are guilty of cyber-bullying, and you should be reprimanded for your gang like behavior. I was merely trying to find an answer to my car's problem. You make using Brickboard a most unpleasant experience and it is YOU that should be blocked.

            I'm going to try putting my former moderator hat back on for a moment to deal with this budding flame war that I managed to step into (there are no moderators here any more).

            We are happy to now learn you are a real person and not intentionally trying to waste our time as might have been assumed by a few of us here, including me. I am contacting the site admin to hold off blocking you at this time. I know you're angered and you may well choose to never come here again, but let's see if we can give each other a second chance.

            You've explained your side, so let me try to explain ours. Our greatest satisfaction as volunteer contributors is knowing that we've helped and educated others. Many of us have contributed hundreds even thousands of hours over the years trying to help our fellow Volvo owners keep their Swedish iron rolling.

            You have posted six times in the past few years seeking help. You received a number of replies from a number of contributors, many seeking additional information from you. Not once have we ever received a reply from you until today. Dozens of hours have been spent by us thinking about your problems and trying to help you with no indication from you that you even read our replies. When you recently posted the exact same problem twice in a span of four months, can you blame us for thinking you might be taking advantage of our generosity?

            Hope you choose to stay with us. If you wish to continue with your recent braking problems then I suggest you start a new thread. As long as we're getting some kind of feedback from you and you make some attempt to respond to our suggestions and requests for additional info then we'll do our best to keep helping you.

            Finally, publishing personal identification and locations beyond what you choose to reveal in your profile and posts is not acceptable, especially in the context of recent threads. On behalf of others here, I sincerely apologize. I will request that those posts be deleted.

            To my fellow brickboard users here, unlike facebook, we are not able to turn off further commenting, so please do not fan this flame war any further by replying in this thread, even if you know more details about this person than I am assuming at the moment. Let's just let it rest for now and get back to helping each other.

              Dear Dave (and others involved in this storm in a teacup) Thank you for your thorough and gracious reply about my mistaken identity. No hard feelings! I do want to point out that, although the two posts about my brakes seemed to be repeats, they are, in fact, two separate issues, or at least ,were not resolved by replacing the pads and rotors. This has led me to wonder about the competency of my mechanic, especially as today he suggested that the brakes dragging and freezing might be the differential (?!) And I did reply to someone called James, who offered excellent advice about it possibly being the master cylinder. Perhaps I am not using the site correctly, as my reply only showed up in my email. Forgive me for my clumsiness and ignorance...first time being called a troll, tho'! My lack of responses has been largely due to ignorance and shyness, but I really do appreciate all (well, nearly all) your responses..
              And kitty, I DO love my Volvo. It has crossed the country a couple of times, been a camper from Yosemite to the Rockies, and currently contains all my painting gear plus several changes of clothes for the Pacific coast weather. I could not live without my Swedish car.
              You have not scared me off!
