headliner replacement 700 1990

Can anyone give me an idea at how much a mechanic would charge me for a replacement??

I was going to try my 744TI - my plan was too cut the liner about an inch before the radius and remove it and install it in two pieces.

As mentioned, it is quite hard to remove and install the liner without breaking it in the sunroof area.

Several posters have mentioned that it is not really too hard to remove the old cloth and glue in new cloth.

Beware, do not try to pry trim away from the rear window or windshield - a shop that I hired to tint the windows tried to remove the trim around the rear window (there are two spots on the sides that look like a slot to pry the trim away) - they broke the rear window!

Guess what? - a windshield is a couple of hundred bucks - the rear window with fine wires in the glass is more than $1200!

If you do find a trim shop to take on the job be sure it is understood that the material must be 1/8". Much of the supply is evidently 1/4" and I think the FAQ's point out that 1/4" material is too thick.

The sedans are particularly more difficult to get the board out compared to the wagons.

I had one done yrs ago and the guy bid $180. When I picked it up, he regretted the price. Said it was a whole more labor intensive then he thought.
